About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027. You will work within a software engineering team to support development projects. We provide regular guidance and support, but you will be expected to learn quickly and take on challenging tasks. This role follows a hybrid schedule, requiring you to be in the Columbia, Maryland office 1 to 2 days per week.
What you'll do#
- Write code for back-end services and front-end interfaces.
- Develop and support responsive user interfaces for the web.
- Iterate on software features with the development team.
- Integrate various technologies and applications.
- Perform application development and system testing.
- Integrate advanced AI agents, such as Claude Code or Google Gemini, into your daily engineering routine.
What you'll need#
- U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Computer Science or a related field, with over 60% of credits completed.
- Programming experience with Java, Kotlin, Python, or JavaScript frameworks like Angular, Vue.js, and React.
- Working knowledge of databases, SQL, and RESTful web services.
- Experience with Object Oriented Programming (OOP) and configuration management tools such as Git, Nexus, or Maven.
- Understanding of software design standards, best practices, and the agile lifecycle.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Preferred: Knowledge of AWS or Azure, experience with Linux, and a current security clearance.
