About the role#
The Brennan Center for Justice is seeking an undergraduate student for an IT internship during the Spring 2027 semester. You will work directly with the IT Director to provide help desk support to staff members based in New York and Washington, DC. This role is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in information technology support.
What you'll do#
- Provide desktop and telephone support to Brennan Center employees.
- Document all incoming calls and track problem resolutions.
- Offer user-level software support for applications including MS Office, Office 365, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Handle the upgrade, repair, and replacement of computers and printers.
What you'll need#
- You must be an undergraduate student during the Spring 2027 semester.
- Technician Level 1 proficiency.
- Strong verbal communication and active listening skills.
- A detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.
- Basic knowledge of hardware and software installation.
- Familiarity with standard desktop concepts, including TCP/IP settings and network connectivity troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of MS Office.
- Familiarity with Macintosh systems and major smartphone or tablet models and operating systems.
Location & details#
- This internship is located on-site at our New York City office.
- The role is part-time, requiring approximately 10 to 20 hours per week.
- The position is paid at a rate of $18.40 per hour, contingent on school policies regarding internships.
