About the role#
This is an unpaid internship through the DoD SkillBridge Program, specifically designed for transitioning active-duty U.S. military personnel within their final 180 days of service. You will train as an Interior Communications Master Tradesperson, working closely with a mentor and senior leadership to gain real-world experience in the defense industry. The goal of this program is to provide hands-on training that aligns with your military background, with the potential to transition into a full-time role.
What you'll do#
- Train on meaningful projects while learning the basics and principles of a Master Tradesperson.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components on 1MC, 3MC, and 5MC systems onboard Naval ships using test equipment and hand tools.
- Learn to read blueprints and research technical manuals to design, fabricate, and test solutions for identified problems.
- Develop skills to schedule, report, and brief customers and senior management on work progress.
- Complete special projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Must be active-duty military personnel within the final 180 days of service.
- Must possess a Confidential or higher security clearance.
- Education and experience requirements are dependent on the specific Program of Instruction.
- Ability to work on-site during core business hours for critical meetings and training.
