About the role#
HII Technical Solutions is hiring a DevOps Engineer Intern for Summer 2027. You will join our team to maintain and update big data systems, automation, and cloud management tools. This role operates in a hybrid environment, requiring you to work from our Columbia, Maryland office for 1-2 days each week.
What you'll do#
- Maintain and support distributed computing systems.
- Assist with configuration management automation.
- Write scripts in Python and Bash for automation and feature development.
- Troubleshoot application issues reported by customers.
- Perform quality assurance testing.
- Provide general technical support and handle other duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Computer Science or a related field, with at least 60% of credits completed.
- Proficiency in Python software development and Bash scripting.
- Experience with the Linux command line.
- Familiarity with Git, AWS or other cloud platforms, and Kubernetes or other containerization technologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to compile data.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize open tickets.
- Self-motivation and flexibility to adapt to schedule changes.
Preferred qualifications include a current Secret level clearance, prior technical internship experience, and a Security+ certification.
