About the role#
This internship is part of the Fall 2026 term at HII Technical Solutions. You will work with the Principal AI/ML Engineer to advance space simulation and support AI development for the USSF customer. The work focuses on creating artificial intelligence models for space superiority analytics and multi-domain operations. You will collaborate with a team of AI engineers, modeling and simulation engineers, product owners, and program managers.
What you'll do#
- Support the development of AI models for space simulation and force structure planning.
- Build software from source for various platforms using different compilers.
- Develop acceptance, integration, and unit tests for a range of technologies.
- Participate in software design meetings and code reviews.
- Manage issue backlogs and maintain project boards.
- Provide inputs for execution plans and status reports.
- Create user and developer documentation.
- Develop new capabilities using existing libraries.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor's degree and current enrollment in a Master's program with at least 50% of credits completed.
- Academic background in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
- A genuine interest in Space Operations.
- Strong technical writing skills.
- A willingness to tackle difficult problems and learn new languages.

- This is a part-time, paid internship.
- The position is remote, based out of Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland.
