About the role#
This is an unpaid internship opportunity through the DoD SkillBridge Program, specifically designed for transitioning active-duty U.S. military personnel within their final 180 days of service. You will train as an ACCCIT Master Tradesperson within HII-Mission Technologies, working closely with a mentor and senior leadership to gain hands-on experience in maritime defense systems. The program aims to bridge your existing military training with civilian workforce requirements, focusing on the operation, configuration, and maintenance of specialized equipment.
What you'll do#
- Actively train on meaningful projects and collaborate with senior company leadership.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, including ventilation systems, duct heaters, TRV, and 2PD, using hand tools and test equipment to identify and resolve breakdowns.
- Read blueprints and conduct research using Technical Manuals.
- Learn to schedule, report, and brief customers and senior management on work progress.
- Develop solutions for technical problems, including design, fabrication, testing, and making alterations based on feedback.
- Complete assigned special projects as needed.
What you'll need#
- Must be Active-Duty Military ONLY within the final 180 days of active-duty service.
- Must hold an active Confidential or higher security clearance.
- Education and experience requirements are dependent on the specific Program of Instruction.
- Physical requirements will vary based on the Program of Instruction.
- Ability to work during core hours for critical meetings and training.
