The WESH 2/CW18 News Internship Program provides hands-on experience in the operations of a broadcast television station. This paid, full-time internship is designed to prepare students for work in a professional newsroom by offering exposure to news production, studio operations, weather, and marketing.
What you'll do#
- Develop skills in news writing, producing, and reporting.
- Assist with behind-the-scenes production, including studio operations and technical set-ups.
- Gain experience in digital media by researching, writing, and publishing stories for online platforms.
- Work with meteorologists to learn how to create and deliver forecast information.
- Support marketing and promotions teams with production and advertising tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a program related to Journalism, Communications, or Media Studies.
- Ability to work three days per week, eight hours per shift, with a varying schedule that includes non-traditional hours.
- For production roles: comfort with height and the ability to lift light equipment.
- For weather roles: a working knowledge of a meteorology curriculum or a closely related field of study.
