News Intern

About the role#

As a News Intern at KOCO, you will gain hands-on experience in how a professional newsroom operates. You will be integrated into daily operations, assisting the news team with research, information gathering, and production tasks. This is a paid, on-site position.

What you'll do#

• Assist with writing VO/spots and packages.
• Support reporters, producers, and photographers during shoots.
• Log interviews and assist with content coordination within the newsroom.
• Write stories for newscasts.
• Help with daily newsroom operations and field production tasks as assigned.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment or background in Journalism or Communications.
• Previous experience through college journalism coursework or a local newsroom internship.
• Ability to react and adapt quickly to breaking news.
• Strong editorial, writing, and technical skills.
• Versatility to handle a wide range of topics and subjects.
• Knowledge of current events and the ability to work effectively within a team.
