About the role#
This is a hands-on, paid internship at KOCO, the ABC affiliate of Hearst Television in Oklahoma City. Interns gain practical experience in a professional newsroom and are expected to contribute to daily operations. You will work directly with reporters, producers, and photographers both in the newsroom and in the field.
What you'll do#
- Assist with writing voice-overs, spots, and packages.
- Support reporters, producers, and photographers during shoots.
- Log interviews and conduct research for news stories.
- Write stories for newscasts.
- Coordinate content within the newsroom and assist with daily operations.
- Potentially field produce stories.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or background in Journalism or Communications.
- Previous experience through college coursework or a prior internship in a local newsroom.
- Strong editorial, writing, and technical skills.
- Ability to react and adapt quickly to breaking news.
- Versatility to handle a wide range of topics and subjects.
- Knowledge of current events and the ability to work effectively in a team.
