News Intern

About the role#

This paid, hands-on internship provides an opportunity to understand how a professional newsroom operates at KOCO, the ABC affiliate in Oklahoma City. Interns contribute directly to daily operations, working alongside reporters, producers, and photographers both in the newsroom and in the field.

What you'll do#

• Write stories for newscasts, including vo/spots and packages.
• Assist reporters, producers, and photographers during shoots.
• Log interviews and research information for news stories.
• Coordinate content within the newsroom.
• Support daily newsroom operations and production tasks.

What you'll need#

• Current interest in journalism, supported by college coursework or previous internship experience in a local newsroom.
• Ability to react and adapt quickly to breaking news.
• Versatility to handle a wide range of topics and subjects.
• Strong editorial, writing, and technical skills.
• Ability to stay informed on current events and work effectively within a team.
