About the role#
This is a paid, hands-on internship at KOCO, the Hearst Television ABC affiliate in Oklahoma City. Interns gain experience in how a professional newsroom operates by contributing to daily production and news gathering. You will work directly with reporters, producers, and photographers both in the newsroom and in the field.
What you'll do#
- Write stories, voice-overs, spots, and packages for newscasts.
- Assist reporters, producers, and photographers during shoots.
- Log interviews and research information for news stories.
- Coordinate content within the newsroom.
- Help with daily newsroom operations and other assigned tasks.
What you'll need#
- A strong interest in journalism and previous experience, such as college coursework or a prior internship.
- Ability to react and adapt quickly to breaking news.
- Versatility to handle a wide range of topics and subjects.
- Knowledge of current events and the ability to work well within a team.
- Strong editorial, writing, and technical skills.
