As a Newsroom Intern at KCRA/KQCA TV, you will gain hands-on experience in how a television station functions and the role it plays in the community. Over the course of 10 to 12 weeks, you will shadow and work with collaborative teams across departments including the Assignment Desk, TV and Digital News Production, Sports, and Weather.
What you'll do#
- Assist team members in gathering news and information from reporters, sources, and the public.
- Practice writing and formatting scripts for broadcast.
- Research and write content for digital platforms, including the website, app, and social media channels.
- Monitor national sports feeds for breaking news, log events, and research statistics.
- Analyze weather charts and models to assist meteorologists in preparing forecasts and graphics.
- Support field work and news gathering operations alongside photographers and reporters.
What you'll need#
- An interest in journalism and media production.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Familiarity with social media platforms.
- A basic understanding of news production processes.
- Current enrollment or background in Communications, Journalism, or Media Studies is preferred.
