About the role#
Hatch is seeking a Planner Co-op Student for a 4-month internship starting in January 2027. Reporting to the Project Controls Manager within the Project Management and Construction group, you will work from our Mississauga office to support global project teams.
What you'll do#
- Compile the baseline schedule and track progress, making changes as required.
- Develop and update Earned Value Management reports on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Report Key Performance Indicators to management and the client.
- Forecast project schedules to identify potential problem areas.
- Break down schedules into shorter terms, such as 90-day lookaheads, for easier tracking.
- Track actual hours, costs, and activity progress, comparing them against budgets to report findings.
- Monitor changes and implement the Trend and Change Management process.
- Predict potential cost and hour overruns or underruns by comparing percentage completion to date against costs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Engineering degree program at an accredited university.
- Interest in developing and maintaining detailed engineering schedules and earned value metrics.
- Knowledge of P6 V8.1 or Microsoft Project.
- Previous experience as a Planner or Scheduler.
- A solid understanding of engineering and business fundamentals.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to learn quickly.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with an ability to adapt to change.
