About the role#
As a Port Planning Intern at Hatch, you will join our Infrastructure group based in Brooklyn. This role offers the opportunity to apply your academic background to real-world projects while working alongside senior engineers and designers. We value in-person collaboration and operate as an in-office team.
What you'll do#
- Apply planning principles to develop efficient and economical solutions for port planning challenges.
- Conduct infrastructure planning for road, rail, and marine operations.
- Collect and analyze operational data to support project objectives.
- Prepare technical reports, memos, presentations, maps, models, and schedules.
- Assist in the preparation of detailed designs and drawings based on project specifications.
- Coordinate with other engineers and technicians to support project delivery.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in urban planning, transportation planning, or engineering.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- A strong interest in the maritime industry and freight transportation planning.
- Willingness to travel to Hatch offices, project sites, and supplier locations as required.
- Proficiency in ArcGIS is considered an asset.
- Previous internship or co-op experience is a plus.

- Compensation: $27 to $32 per hour.
- Status: This is a paid, full-time internship position.
