About the role#
Hatch is looking for an Estimating Co-op Student to join the Project Management and Construction group for a 4-month internship starting in January 2027. You will report to the Project Controls Manager and support global offices while working from our Mississauga location.
What you'll do#
- Develop project Capital Cost Estimates ranging from AACE International Class 1 to 5.
- Follow the Project Lifecycle Process and global estimating guidelines.
- Review estimating scope, deliverables, schedules, and report structures.
- Prepare accurate estimates based on established procedures and standards.
- Calculate direct and indirect costs using first principles or factorization.
- Determine cash expenditure and predicted escalation over project durations.
- Maintain and improve the estimating database.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Engineering degree program at an accredited university.
- Strong skills in MS Office and experience with estimating tools.
- Ability to learn new concepts quickly and solve problems.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to adapt to change.
- Experience in a first principle estimating environment, particularly on large multi-discipline EPCM projects, is an asset.
- Familiarity with EPC/LSTK estimating techniques, site experience, and commercial or contractual knowledge are also beneficial.
