About the role#
Harrison Street Asset Management is seeking a summer intern to join the Asset Management team for a 10-week program. This role provides exposure to the firm's portfolio of alternative real estate assets, including senior housing, student housing, self-storage, healthcare properties, and life science buildings. Interns will engage in financial analysis, cash flow modeling, and property reviews while receiving mentorship from executive leadership.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the analysis of the portfolio, including monthly financial performance, budget reviews, and buy/hold/sell analysis.
- Prepare quarterly investor reporting materials.
- Analyze the financial impact of capital events such as dispositions, recapitalizations, and debt refinancing.
- Evaluate leasing trends, competitive property sets, and market-level supply and demand data.
- Support the maintenance of joint venture projection models.
- Perform site inspections of existing or under-development properties.
- Participate in bi-weekly meetings to discuss distressed assets, upcoming sales, loan maturities, and joint venture partner relationships.
- Execute ad hoc financial modeling projects to improve asset management efficiency.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a junior in a Bachelor's degree program, with a preference for Real Estate, Finance, or Business Administration concentrations.
- Core knowledge of finance and accounting principles.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work as a self-directed, highly motivated, and organized individual.
- Proficiency in Excel and research skills.
