About the role#
Harper College is seeking Student Aides to support the Access and Disability Services (ADS) department. This role offers the opportunity to gain administrative experience while assisting students with disabilities. The position involves both front desk operations and lab assistance, with two openings currently available.
What you'll do#
- Greet and direct students, visitors, faculty, and staff at the front desk.
- Manage incoming phone calls and messages via TEAMS.
- Schedule appointments using proprietary software and process custom requests.
- Provide information regarding ADS events and departmental processes.
- Perform administrative duties including data entry, mail distribution, scanning, printing, and organizing office supplies.
- Assist staff with event organization.
- Provide lab support for students with disabilities, which may include manual manipulation of papers, books, and other lab materials.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with ADS staff.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn quickly.
- Patience, empathy, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Spanish or American Sign Language is considered an advantage.
- Preferred majors include Psychology, Communications, or Human Resources.
