Student Aide - Access and Disability Services

About the role#

Harper College is seeking Student Aides to support the Access and Disability Services (ADS) department. This role offers the opportunity to gain administrative experience while providing support to students with disabilities. Two positions are currently available, with responsibilities split between front desk operations and lab assistance.

What you'll do#

• Greet and direct students, visitors, faculty, and staff at the front desk.
• Manage communications by answering phone calls and responding to messages via TEAMS.
• Schedule appointments using proprietary software and manage custom requests.
• Provide information regarding ADS processes and upcoming events.
• Perform administrative duties, including data entry, mail distribution, document scanning, and maintaining office supplies.
• Assist with the organization of ADS events.
• For the Lab Aide position, assist students with disabilities in lab classes, including manual manipulation of papers, books, and other lab materials.

What you'll need#

• High school diploma.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with ADS staff.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn new tasks quickly.
• Patience, empathy, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
• Proficiency in Spanish or American Sign Language is considered an advantage.
