About the role#
This internship provides foundational exposure to medical office operations within a mental health setting. It is designed for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in healthcare or those seeking to start a career in the field. Participants work under supervision to learn office procedures and receive a certificate upon completing 600 hours of service.
What you'll do#
- Handle professional phone calls and manage patient scheduling.
- Perform patient check-in and check-out procedures.
- Use the MEDENT system to manage Electronic Health Records.
- Oversee patient flow and the waiting area.
- Learn the basics of psychiatric services, medical terminology, and insurance billing.
- Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance in all tasks.
What you'll need#
- You must be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate.
- No prior healthcare or office experience is required.
- You must be able to commit to a consistent schedule of at least 20 hours per week.
- You must pass a basic screening, including a background check and drug test.
- This program is open to students in fields such as Psychology, Nursing, Public Health, Communications, Sociology, Biology, Criminal Justice, or Health Administration.
