About the role#
This internship provides hands-on training in medical office operations within a mental health setting. It is designed for those looking to start a career in healthcare or gain experience in a professional clinical environment. You will receive mentorship and training, culminating in a Certificate of Completion after finishing 600 hours. Please note this is a voluntary, unpaid position.
What you'll do#
- Manage front desk operations including faxing, filing, and copying.
- Handle professional phone communication and patient scheduling.
- Perform patient check-in and check-out procedures.
- Oversee the waiting area and manage patient flow.
- Learn Electronic Health Record basics using MEDENT.
- Gain exposure to medical terminology, HIPAA compliance, and insurance billing.
What you'll need#
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- You must be able to commit to a consistent schedule of at least 20 hours per week.
- You must pass a background check and drug screening.
- This program is well-suited for students or graduates in Psychology, Health Administration, Public Health, Nursing, or Biomedical Sciences.
