About the role#
The Clinical Nursing Student role at Mercy Health provides hands-on experience in a Med Surg unit. You will work under the guidance of a Registered Nurse to support patient care and develop your clinical skills. This position is designed to offer exposure to hospital operations and patient interaction in a professional healthcare environment.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct patient care as delegated by the Registered Nurse.
- Record vital signs and assist with patient data collection.
- Help patients with daily activities like ambulation, mobility, feeding, and hygiene.
- Report changes in a patient's condition or any immediate concerns to the nursing team.
- Participate in hand-off reports to share pertinent information regarding patient needs.
- Document care activities accurately and in a timely manner.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment in a nursing program.
- Completion of at least one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation.
- Ability to follow directions and communicate clearly with the healthcare team.
- Understanding of basic patient safety standards and infection prevention.
