About the role#
Harmony United Psychiatric Care offers a hands-on internship program for individuals looking to start a career in healthcare. This role provides foundational training in medical office operations within a mental health setting. Participants receive mentorship and practical experience, concluding with a Certificate of Completion after 600 hours of service.
What you'll do#
- Manage front desk duties including patient check-in and check-out procedures.
- Handle professional phone communication and schedule patient appointments.
- Oversee patient flow and maintain the waiting area.
- Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA compliance and patient privacy standards.
- Learn electronic health record basics, medical terminology, and insurance billing fundamentals.
- Participate in orientation, shadowing, and supervised hands-on practice.
What you'll need#
- You must be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate.
- A strong motivation to gain healthcare experience for career development.
- Ability to commit to a consistent schedule of at least 20 hours per week.
- Willingness to pass a basic screening, including a background check and drug testing.
- Students in Psychology, Health Administration, Public Health, Nursing, or Biomedical Sciences are encouraged to apply.
