About the role#
Halff is hiring a GIS Intern to support utility data management in Fort Worth, Texas. This role focuses on mapping, database development, and field data collection for infrastructure projects such as water, wastewater, and transportation. You will work full-time during the summer of 2027.
What you'll do#
- Convert CAD files to GIS and perform mapping tasks for utility assets.
- Gather and interpret utility records and project plans.
- Create and edit GIS files while analyzing spatial relationships in utility networks.
- Participate in map production, data integration, and validation workflows.
- Support data quality reviews, asset inventory management, and technical documentation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Geography, Computer Science, or a related GIS field.
- Familiarity with core GIS concepts like editing, topology, and spatial queries.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and suggest improvements to existing workflows.
- Strong attention to detail and a focus on producing accurate results.
- Experience with ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Pro is preferred.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site position based in Fort Worth, Texas.
- The internship runs from June 7, 2027, to August 13, 2027.
- This is a paid, full-time role working 40 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday from 8a to 5p.
