About the role#
The Surgical Tech Intern supports the Operating Room team during surgical procedures. This role involves managing equipment, transporting items, and keeping the department clean. You will work closely with the health care team to ensure the unit runs smoothly.
What you'll do#
- Transport patients, lab specimens, blood, and cafeteria supplies to and from the Operating Room.
- Decontaminate the operating room after surgical cases are complete.
- Maintain cleanliness for all anesthesia and OR equipment.
- Restock supplies including solutions, blankets, forms, and count sheets.
- Protect patient privacy and modesty at all times.
- Communicate clearly with the health care team when giving reports.
- Identify and report potential problems to the supervisor or nursing manager.
- Show initiative by completing necessary tasks within your area of responsibility.
What you'll need#
- High School diploma or GED.
- Ability to obtain Basic CPR certification within 6 months of hire.
- No prior experience is required.
- Interest in fields such as Nursing, Public Health, Health Administration, or Biomedical Sciences.
