About the role#
The Student Nurse Care Partner (Float Pool) role offers nursing students the opportunity to gain hands-on clinical experience while working under the direction of Registered Nurses (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN). This position involves working across multiple inpatient units to support patient care, build clinical confidence, and develop bedside skills. Assignments are based on hospital staffing needs, and the schedule is designed to be flexible to accommodate nursing school coursework.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct patient care across multiple inpatient units under the direction of nursing staff.
- Assist patients with mobility, including transfers, ambulation, and range of motion exercises, while utilizing safe patient handling equipment.
- Perform activities of daily living for patients, such as hygiene care, feeding, and toileting.
- Conduct clinical tasks including bladder scanning, glucose monitoring in non-critical care areas, specimen collection, and EKG completion.
- Monitor patient conditions and communicate any changes promptly to the RN or LPN.
- Participate in patient safety and satisfaction initiatives, including patient rounding and answering call bells.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment, manage patient belongings, and transport equipment or blood products as needed.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment in an accredited licensed nursing program.
- CPR certification (or ability to obtain it in accordance with organizational policy).
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
- Eagerness to learn and apply nursing knowledge in a clinical setting.
