About the role#
The Student Nurse Care Partner (Float Pool) role offers nursing students the opportunity to gain hands-on clinical experience while working under the direction of Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs). This per diem position involves floating across multiple inpatient units to support nursing staff and provide direct patient care. The schedule is designed to be flexible to accommodate nursing school coursework, though weekend and holiday availability may be required.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct patient care across multiple inpatient units.
- Assist with patient mobility, transfers, and activities of daily living.
- Conduct bladder scanning and glucose monitoring in non-critical care areas.
- Participate in patient safety initiatives and monitor patient satisfaction.
- Communicate changes in a patient's condition promptly to the nursing staff.
- Perform clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, specimen collection, and EKG completion.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment for patients.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited licensed nursing program.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- CPR certification (must be obtained or maintained per organizational policy).
- Eagerness to learn and apply nursing knowledge in a clinical setting.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a healthcare team.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, and assisting with patient lifting using safe handling equipment.
