About the role#
The Indigenous Operator Internship is a paid program designed to help Indigenous applicants launch long-term careers in Alberta’s energy sector. This internship provides on-the-job training and support, with the goal of transitioning participants into permanent operator roles. Placements begin in Summer 2026.
What you'll do#
Interns will work across various energy sector sites, supporting operations such as:
- Hydrovac operation: Performing safe excavation using high-pressure water and vacuum trucks.
- Bulk hauling and transport: Moving fluids, water, sand, and equipment to and from project sites.
- Vacuum and water truck operation: Operating equipment on and around active sites.
- Well site support: Running and supporting equipment for fracturing operations and participating in well servicing and maintenance.
What you'll need#
- This program is open to Indigenous applicants across Alberta.
- Entry-level candidates are welcome, as on-the-job training is provided.
- A Class 1 or Class 3 licence is considered an asset, but it is not required to begin the application process.
- A commitment to learning and growing within the energy sector.
