About the role#
The Indigenous Operator Internship is a paid program designed to help Indigenous workers start and maintain long-term careers in Alberta's energy sector. This internship serves as a pathway to permanent employment. Participants earn a wage from the first day of the program. The role involves working on energy sector sites across the province, with placements beginning in Summer 2026.
What you'll do#
- Complete training before starting your placement.
- Operate equipment on energy sector sites, which may include hydrovac, vacuum trucks, water trucks, or transport vehicles.
- Work alongside a dedicated mentor and supervisor.
- Participate in scheduled check-ins at 3, 6, and 12 months to support your progress.
What you'll need#
- You identify as an Indigenous applicant.
- You have a clear desire for a long-term career operating equipment in the energy sector.
- You are ready to show up, learn, and grow on the job.
- A Class 1 or Class 3 license is an asset, but not required to begin.
