The Indigenous Operator Internship is a paid, full-time program designed to help Indigenous applicants launch long-term careers in Alberta’s energy sector. This internship is structured to provide on-the-job training and mentorship, with a clear path toward permanent employment. Participants receive support for transportation, childcare, technology, and safety certifications throughout the program.
What you'll do#
Interns will gain hands-on experience in various operator roles across active energy sites, including:
- Operating hydrovac trucks for safe excavation.
- Transporting fluids, water, sand, and equipment to and from job sites.
- Operating vacuum and water trucks.
- Supporting fracturing operations and well servicing and maintenance crews.
What you'll need#
- Open to Indigenous applicants across Alberta.
- A desire for a long-term career operating equipment in the energy sector.
- A commitment to learning and professional growth on the job.
- While a Class 1 or Class 3 licence is considered an asset, it is not required to begin the program.

- Location: Calgary, Alberta (with placements at energy sector sites across the province).
- Term: Summer 2026.
- Modality: On-site.
