About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship opportunity with Gerdau North America. The position is part of the G. Start program, which focuses on developing students for future technical and managerial roles through project-based work. The internship is available for durations of 4, 6, 12, or 16 months.
What you'll do#
- Conduct regular workplace inspections to identify hazards and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Lead and support incident investigations, including root cause analysis and the development of corrective actions.
- Perform risk assessments to evaluate workplace hazards and recommend control measures.
- Assist in the development, coordination, and delivery of safety training programs.
- Analyze health and safety data, monitor key performance indicators, and prepare reports to support continuous improvement.
- Conduct contractor compliance audits to ensure adherence to safety standards and company policies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Occupational Health and Safety, Human Resources, Health Administration, Public Health, Nursing, or a related field.
- A record of high academic achievement, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred.
- Candidates must be returning to full-time studies following the completion of this internship.
- Legal authorization to work full-time in Canada without the need for sponsorship.
- Demonstrated leadership potential and strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
