About the role#
This is an 8-month internship position based in Selkirk, Manitoba. You will work directly with the Engineering or Maintenance & Reliability teams to gain hands-on experience in the steel manufacturing industry. This is a paid, full-time role for Summer 2026.
What you'll do#
- Update equipment and facility drawings.
- Collaborate with outside vendors and consultants, and assist in managing contractors.
- Assist engineers on capital expenditure (capex) improvement projects.
- Manage smaller, non-capex projects.
- Plan maintenance jobs and order necessary parts.
- Execute design projects.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least two years of a degree in a Mechanical Engineering discipline.
- A record of high academic achievement, with a minimum GPA of 2.5 (a GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred).
- Proficiency with SolidWorks design software; AutoCAD experience is an asset.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented approach with strong organizational qualities.
- Ability to work independently and learn quickly.
- Legal authorization to work in Canada without requiring sponsorship.
