Co-op/Intern - Electrical Engineer

About the role#

Gerdau North America is seeking an Electrical Engineering intern for an 8-month co-op term during Summer 2026. Working with the Reliability Team, this full-time, paid position offers hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment. Candidates will receive on-the-job training and orientation to support various electrical projects and facility operations.

What you'll do#

• Update equipment and facility drawings.
• Assist engineers on capital expenditure (capex) improvement projects.
• Manage smaller non-capex projects.
• Work closely with and support the electrical planner.
• Plan electrical jobs and order necessary parts.
• Collaborate with outside vendors and consultants and assist in managing contractors.

What you'll need#

• Completed at least two years of an Electrical Engineering degree from a recognized university.
• A minimum GPA of 2.5, with a preference for 3.0 or higher.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented approach with strong organizational qualities.
• Ability to work independently and learn quickly.
• Experience with AutoCAD, PLCs, and automation is considered an asset.
• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without current or future sponsorship.
