About the role#
Gerdau North America is seeking an Electrical Engineering intern for an eight-month co-op term starting in Summer 2026. You will join the Reliability Team in Selkirk, Manitoba, to gain hands-on experience in a large-scale steel manufacturing environment. This is a full-time, paid position that requires on-site attendance.
What you'll do#
- Update equipment and facility drawings.
- Assist engineers with capital expenditure improvement projects.
- Support the electrical planner in daily operations.
- Plan electrical jobs and manage the ordering of parts.
- Work with outside vendors and consultants while assisting in the management of contractors.
- Manage smaller non-capital expenditure projects.
What you'll need#
- Completed at least two years of an Electrical Engineering degree from a recognized university.
- A minimum GPA of 2.5, with a preference for 3.0 or higher.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate a high capacity for learning.
- Legal authorization to work in Canada without the need for current or future sponsorship.
- Experience with AutoCAD, PLCs, and automation is considered an asset.
