Gerdau North America is seeking an Electrical Engineering intern for an 8-month co-op term during Summer 2026. Working with the Reliability Team, this full-time, paid position offers hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment. Candidates will receive on-the-job training and orientation to support various electrical projects and facility operations.
What you'll do#
- Update equipment and facility drawings.
- Assist engineers on capital expenditure (capex) improvement projects.
- Manage smaller non-capex projects.
- Work closely with and support the electrical planner.
- Plan electrical jobs and order necessary parts.
- Collaborate with outside vendors and consultants and assist in managing contractors.
What you'll need#
- Completed at least two years of an Electrical Engineering degree from a recognized university.
- A minimum GPA of 2.5, with a preference for 3.0 or higher.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented approach with strong organizational qualities.
- Ability to work independently and learn quickly.
- Experience with AutoCAD, PLCs, and automation is considered an asset.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without current or future sponsorship.
