Continuous Improvement Intern

About the role#

The Continuous Improvement Intern will participate in the G.Start program, a paid, project-focused internship designed to develop students for future technical and managerial positions. This is a full-time summer 2026 role based on-site in Midlothian, Texas.

What you'll do#

• Manage day-to-day administration, configuration, and team training for continuous improvement software platforms.
• Partner with operations teams to identify improvement opportunities and analyze relevant data.
• Support the implementation of process changes to improve safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Apply Lean and Six Sigma tools, including 5S, Root Cause Analysis, Standard Work, Process Mapping, and Visual Management, to streamline operations and reduce waste.
• Support cost-saving implementations within steel manufacturing operations.

What you'll need#

• Current pursuit of a degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Junior or Senior standing preferred.
• A record of high academic achievement with a minimum GPA of 2.5 (3.0 or higher preferred).
• Demonstrated leadership experience through student organizations or extracurricular activities.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Must be legally authorized to work full-time in the United States without requiring current or future sponsorship.
