About the role#
The Continuous Improvement Intern position is part of the G.Start program, a paid internship designed to develop students for future technical and managerial roles. This is a project-focused, full-time summer internship based in Midlothian, Texas. Interns will gain exposure to manufacturing operations and software tools while working in a professional steel production environment.
What you'll do#
- Manage day-to-day administration, configuration, and team training for continuous improvement software platforms.
- Partner with operations teams to identify improvement opportunities and analyze relevant data.
- Support the implementation of process changes to improve safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Apply Lean and Six Sigma tools, such as 5S, Root Cause Analysis, Standard Work, Process Mapping, and Visual Management, to streamline operations and reduce waste.
- Assist with cost-saving implementations within the manufacturing process.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related degree program, specifically entering your Junior or Senior year.
- A record of high academic achievement, with a minimum GPA of 2.5 and a preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Demonstrated leadership experience through student organizations or extra-curricular activities.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Legal authorization to work full-time in the United States without the need for current or future employment sponsorship.
