About the role#
Gerdau is hiring an Electrical Engineering intern to join our team in Selkirk, Manitoba. This is a paid, full-time, on-site position. You will work with our reliability team to gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment. We look for students with high learning agility who want to develop their skills through targeted projects.
What you'll do#
- Update equipment and facility drawings.
- Coordinate with outside vendors, consultants, and contractors.
- Support engineers on capital expenditure improvement projects.
- Partner with the electrical planner to organize tasks.
- Manage smaller non-capital projects.
- Plan electrical jobs and order necessary parts.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least two years of an Electrical Engineering degree.
- A minimum GPA of 2.5, though 3.0 or higher is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and learn quickly.
- Excellent organizational habits and attention to detail.
- Experience with AutoCAD, PLCs, or automation is a plus.
- Involvement in student organizations or extra-curricular leadership roles.
- Legal authorization to work in Canada without sponsorship.
