About the role#
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our team in Oak Ridge. You will support the design and analysis of building mechanical systems for industrial and government facilities. This is a part-time, on-site, paid position.
What you'll do#
- Assist senior engineers with the design of HVAC, ductwork, piping, and plumbing systems.
- Perform engineering calculations, including heating and cooling loads, pipe and duct sizing, and equipment selection.
- Support drawing development and provide construction support.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated design packages.
- Maintain organized project files, drawings, and documentation.
- Follow established engineering procedures and quality assurance programs.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ABET-accredited B.S. Mechanical Engineering program.
- U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain and maintain necessary facility credentials.
- Ability to work effectively within a group of engineers and designers.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- A self-motivated and team-oriented approach.

- Compensation: $21 to $31 per hour.
