Intern- Compliance Engineering

About the role#

Generac is seeking a Compliance Engineering Intern to support the testing and evaluation of energy storage systems, high-power inverters, and converters. This is a full-time, on-site, paid internship position with rolling terms available in Reno, Nevada, or South Portland, Maine. You will work within the engineering team to ensure products meet global standards and safety requirements.

What you'll do#

• Execute product safety testing and support construction reviews according to established test plans.
• Perform grid interoperability testing, troubleshooting, data analysis, and documentation.
• Collaborate with internal engineering teams and external labs to resolve equipment issues.
• Support test automation using AC/DC power sources, measurement equipment, and electronic load banks.
• Design and build test fixtures and lab setups to support certification activities.
• Assist with test planning, schedule tracking, and project execution.
• Set up test configuration hardware and firmware, execute tests, and post-process results.
• Identify opportunities to improve testing efficiency and the overall certification process.

What you'll need#

• High School Diploma.
• Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
• Strong Python skills.
• Basic understanding of high-voltage systems and electrical principles.
• Ability to read or support the development of electrical wiring diagrams.
• Strong lab testing, data analysis, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently while taking direction from team members.
