About the role#
The GPS Student Apprentice role is designed for high school students currently enrolled in a qualified GPS Apprenticeship program. This is a paid, full-time, on-site opportunity based in Berlin, Wisconsin, involving repetitive assembly tasks within a manufacturing environment. Candidates must be pursuing studies in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or Economics.
What you'll do#
- Assemble products using work instructions, drawings, schematics, and electronic assembly equipment while following safety standards.
- Cross-train across multiple assembly areas and flex to other departments based on business needs.
- Participate in team meetings to exchange job-related information.
- Resolve assembly problems with support from peers or supervisors.
- Provide basic training to other employees on standard work instructions.
- Maintain an understanding of how assembled products impact the business.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a qualified GPS Apprenticeship program through an area high school.
- Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment.
- Capacity to execute standard assembly procedures, interpret visual diagrams, and use basic hand tools.
- Proficiency in basic reading, writing, and math.
- Prior manufacturing or mechanical experience, or relevant school coursework.
- Ability to follow safety procedures, policies, and processes.
Location & details#
- Location: Berlin, WI.
- Work Modality: On-site in a production environment.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand for extended periods, walk, stoop, crouch, and reach. The role requires lifting or moving up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance. Employees must comply with all facility safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment.
