About the role#
As a Software Engineering Co-op with the Critical Infrastructure Communication team, you will join an active development group working on next generation product lines. You will gain hands-on experience by contributing to software development, learning our product portfolio, and assisting with the design of sub-systems and features. This is a full-time, paid position based in Rochester, New York, running from January through August 2027.
What you'll do#
- Design, develop, and test software using Java, C, or C++.
- Integrate GE Cloud DevOps tools into the existing GE MDS CI/CD process, such as using Python Robot Framework for regression automation.
- Follow established engineering processes and practices throughout the development lifecycle.
- Report status and progress to project management.
- Estimate time required to implement features and resolve issues to assist with task prioritization.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a full-time undergraduate or graduate program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Engineering, or IT.
- A minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
- Proficiency in Java, C, or C++.
- Experience with Python script development.
- A working understanding of tools such as JIRA or Confluence.
