About the role#
This clinical placement offers students the opportunity to gain professional experience within a hemodialysis healthcare team. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed social worker to provide safe and effective therapy. The role focuses on integrating empirical knowledge with practice-based skills while upholding professional ethics and standards.
What you'll do#
- Assist with patient assessment and care planning to identify psychosocial needs and treatment goals.
- Provide psycho-educational counseling to help patients improve their quality of life and treatment adherence.
- Educate patients and their families about treatment modalities and kidney disease management.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to support patient care and rehabilitation.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
- Help patients navigate financial assistance and community resource referrals.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or G.E.D.
- A strong desire to deliver superior patient care.
- Knowledge of social work ethics and practice.
- The ability to assess a patient's psychosocial status.
- A commitment to following compliance regulations and company policies.
- Enrollment in a relevant field of study such as Psychology, Nursing, Public Health, or Sociology.
