About the role#
This clinical placement offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a dialysis health care team. You will work under the direct supervision of a registered dietitian to provide medical nutrition therapy. This role supports the facility by assisting with patient assessments and nutrition planning while adhering to company policies and regulatory requirements.
What you'll do#
- Conduct nutrition interviews with patients to gather necessary health data.
- Calculate diet prescription recommendations based on patient needs.
- Provide nutrition counseling to patients and their designated caregivers.
- Assist the registered dietitian in developing and implementing nutrition plans of care.
- Review monthly nutrition data with patients and practice writing progress notes.
- Create nutrition-related projects such as educational handouts, bulletin boards, or lobby activities for patients and staff.
- Attend interdisciplinary team meetings to observe and participate in quality assessment processes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Dietetic Internship or a university-based Coordinated Program in Dietetics.
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics.
- Ability to comply with all company policies and regulatory standards.
- A strong desire to deliver quality care to patients.
