About the role#
This externship offers students in the Medical Administrative Assistant or Medical Office Specialist programs a chance to gain hands-on experience in a clinical setting. You will work on the front desk team to support daily operations and patient interactions. This is a paid, on-site role based in Poway, California.
What you'll do#
- Assess incoming phone calls to determine the correct course of action for patients.
- Greet and correspond with patients, visitors, and salespeople in a professional manner.
- Conduct appointment reminder calls and track patient attendance.
- Manage the electronic scheduler by entering data and booking appointments.
- Prepare patient charts and verify that records are accurate.
- Process and record patient payments in the computer system and ledger.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Medical Administrative Assistant or Medical Office Specialist program at a partnership school.
- Availability to work Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- A professional and dependable attitude with a desire to learn.
- Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are preferred.
