About the role#
The Children's Home of Pittsburgh is looking for an intern to assist with the development of our Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA). This assessment occurs every three years and helps us identify the health and social needs of children and families in our region. You will gain experience in research, nonprofit administration, data analysis, and professional report writing while helping guide our future programs.
What you'll do#
- Research health and social issues affecting children and families in Allegheny County and the surrounding region.
- Develop and maintain a plan to distribute surveys to a wide range of community members and stakeholders.
- Coordinate the CHNA Stakeholder Council by managing meeting schedules, invitations, and agenda preparation.
- Organize and analyze quantitative survey results and qualitative feedback to identify trends.
- Draft sections of the final CHNA report and assist with proofreading, editing, and fact-checking.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student in public health, social work, public policy, healthcare administration, nonprofit management, sociology, communications, research, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience conducting online research and synthesizing information from multiple sources.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar productivity software.
- A genuine interest in community health, children and families, and nonprofit organizations.
Location & details#
- Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
- Work Modality: Hybrid, with an expectation of one day per week in the office.
- Commitment: Approximately 10 hours per week.
- This is a paid internship.
