About the role#
This clinical placement provides social work students with hands-on experience in a hemodialysis setting. You will function as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team to support patients undergoing dialysis treatment. All work is performed under the direct supervision of a licensed social worker in accordance with company policies and professional standards.
What you'll do#
- Assess the psychosocial status and strengths of patients as part of their comprehensive care plan.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to identify interventions that improve treatment outcomes and quality of life.
- Provide psycho-educational counseling to help patients with treatment adherence and rehabilitation goals.
- Educate patients and their families on psychosocial issues related to End Stage Renal Disease.
- Assist patients in accessing vocational rehabilitation and other community resources.
- Support the maintenance of a safe and clean work environment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a social work program.
- A High School diploma or G.E.D.
- The ability to work under the supervision of a licensed social worker.
- A strong desire to provide quality care to patients.
- Majors in Public Health, Sociology, or Psychology are relevant to this role.
