About the role#
This is a 12-week paid internship for Summer 2027. You will work 40 hours per week from May 17th to August 6th. The role is based on-site in New Haven and Fort Wayne, Indiana. You must be able to travel periodically within the First Merchants footprint.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with management teams across the business.
- Assist with daily functions that support client banking needs.
- Observe frontline associates and Regional Operations Managers in their daily and weekly work.
- Help bankers assist clients with everyday banking tasks.
- Observe and assist management with the execution of sales processes.
- Participate in a coordinated community service project.
- Network with Executive and Senior Leadership.
- Present a summary of your internship experience at the end of the program.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time Bachelor or higher degree-seeking student at an accredited college or university.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Demonstrated interest in the financial services industry.
- Strong work ethic, team mentality, and self-motivation.
- Initiative and enthusiasm.
- Preferred majors include Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or Marketing.
