About the role#
This is a paid, full-time summer internship based in Monroe, Michigan. You will work 40 hours per week from May 17th to August 6th, 2027. This role provides an introduction to commercial banking products, services, and the sales cycle. You will gain exposure to credit risk assessment, financial data analysis, and portfolio management.
What you'll do#
- Complete trend reports for borrowing base certificates.
- Perform covenant monitoring and annual credit reviews.
- Attend and participate in loan committees and opportunity memorandum discussions.
- Work with relationship managers on prospecting activities and join client calls.
- Monitor loan maturity dates and recommend renewal strategies.
- Participate in a coordinated community service project.
- Present your accomplishments and key learnings to senior leadership at the end of the program.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time Bachelor or higher degree-seeking student at an accredited college or university.
- A major in Finance, Business Administration, or Economics.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Demonstrated interest in the financial services industry.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Ability and willingness to travel periodically throughout the First Merchants footprint.
