About the role#
This is a 12-week paid internship focused on Corporate Social Responsibility. You will gain experience in the financial services industry while working on projects that affect our business and community impact. Interns will participate in networking events, volunteer opportunities, and present their work to leadership at the end of the program.
What you'll do#
- Support volunteer engagement, financial wellness initiatives, and community partnerships.
- Assist with logistics for the 2026 CSR Colloquium and regional service events.
- Manage internal communications, social media content, and impact storytelling.
- Compile, clean, and validate data for CRA performance tracking and exam readiness.
- Research CRA-eligible organizations and community needs.
- Support outreach and reporting for affordable housing and homeownership programs.
- Research small business development trends and support Community Business Bankers.
- Contribute to the Community Impact Dashboard through data input and visual storytelling.
- Assist with system optimization, including usage analysis and support ticket tracking.
- Develop content for the Financial Wellness Toolkit.
What you'll need#
- You are a full-time Bachelor or higher degree-seeking student in Business Administration, Economics, Communications, Sociology, or Political Science.
- You have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- You are available to work 40 hours per week from May 17th to August 6th, 2027.
- You are authorized to work in the United States.
- You have a demonstrated interest in this industry.
- You are willing to travel periodically throughout the First Merchants footprint.

- This role is based on-site in Indianapolis, Indiana or Royal Oak, Michigan.
- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
