About the role#
This is a paid, full-time summer internship within the Commercial Administration team at First Merchants Corporation. You will gain hands-on experience by supporting daily operations, strategic projects, and departmental initiatives. The role provides exposure to various commercial banking segments, including middle market, investment real estate, and treasury management.
What you'll do#
- Support credit lending analysis, loan onboarding, business analytics, compliance, and sales enablement.
- Complete a three-week Credit Training Program covering financial statement analysis, accounting, and credit spread practices.
- Shadow teams in Commercial Client Support and Commercial Loan Operations.
- Gain insight into risk and compliance through policy reviews and committee observations.
- Participate in training, job shadowing, and one-on-one meetings with bank leaders.
- Network with Executive and Senior Leadership throughout the program.
- Take part in a coordinated community service project.
- Present a summary of your experience at the end of the internship.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time student in a Bachelor or higher degree program at an accredited college or university.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Demonstrated interest in the financial services industry.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week from May 17th through August 6th, 2027.
- Ability and willingness to travel periodically throughout the First Merchants footprint.
- Preferred fields of study include Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration.
