About the role#
The Webber Intern I position in Heavy Civil provides hands-on support across multiple project areas. This role focuses on safety, surveying, estimating, project supervision, and field engineering. You will work directly with our teams to gain practical experience in the construction industry.
What you'll do#
- Support various roles within the company to learn project operations.
- Gain an understanding of Job Hazard Analysis and Hazard Safety Observations.
- Apply necessary Personal Protective Equipment for all jobsite activities.
- Observe and prevent safety incidents while conducting jobsite audits.
- Learn to interpret plans and set layouts.
- Understand surveying for quantities, including conversions and accurate surveying practices.
- Assess man-hours, time, and materials needed for production.
- Communicate and delegate work plans to field crews.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a 4-year degree program for Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Science, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Moderate to high proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
- Full understanding of construction math concepts.
- Manual dexterity to handle items and work with your fingers.
- Ability to perform moderate to high levels of physical activity in a field-based construction environment.
