About the role#
The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta is seeking an intern for the Payments Forum. This role supports the Federal Reserve Payments Study (FRPS), which is a comprehensive analysis of noncash payments activity in the United States. You will work with the research team to manage data from thousands of financial institutions and payment processors. This is a part-time position requiring a commitment for both the Spring and Summer 2027 semesters.
What you'll do#
- Recruit depository and financial institutions, major card networks, payment processors, and card issuers to participate in the FRPS.
- Conduct data submission and validation activities to ensure the accuracy of the study.
- Communicate with respondents to encourage their participation and assist them throughout the process.
- Work 15 hours per week during the Spring semester and 30 hours per week during the Summer semester.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student, preferably in Economics, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to solve problems creatively and manage tasks with attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Availability for a two-semester commitment from January 2027 through August 2027.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

- Location: Atlanta, Georgia.
- Modality: This position is available on-site, hybrid, or remote. On-site work is required for certain aspects of the internship program.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
- Background check: Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background screening, which includes fingerprinting and verification of education and employment.
