    About the role#

    The Economic Research Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco conducts independent analysis to support monetary policy and public information efforts. As an intern, you will contribute to this work by assisting staff with quantitative research projects that address domestic and global economic issues.

    What you'll do#

    • Collaborate with economists and research associates on quantitative research analysis.
    • Apply economic and financial data to answer specific research questions.
    • Contribute to projects focused on real-world policy issues.
    • Work independently and within a team to balance multiple tasks.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student.
    • Expected graduation between December 2027 and June 2028.
    • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.
    • Strong quantitative background with coursework in subjects like statistics, econometrics, or mathematics.
    • Programming experience in Python, Stata, Matlab, or R.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
    • Strong critical thinking and communication skills.
    • Demonstrated leadership ability and an interest in economics or finance.

    Location & details#

    • This is a full-time, 10.5-week paid internship.
    • You must be able to work 40 hours per week.
    • This role is strictly on-site, requiring 5 days per week in the San Francisco office.
