About the role#
The American Bankers Association is looking for a Quantitative Research Intern for the summer of 2027. This full-time role offers an opportunity to work with a major trade association in Washington, DC. You will support senior team members by analyzing financial trends and contributing to policy research.
What you'll do#
- Collect, organize, and analyze financial statement data for traditional banks and non-bank financial institutions.
- Track emerging trends regarding the acquisition of commercial banks by non-bank financial institutions.
- Research differences in business models, expense structures, and funding sources across these institutions.
- Create research summaries, charts, and briefing materials to support policy analysis.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate, graduate, or PhD program in Economics, Finance, or Statistics.
- Coursework in macroeconomics, microeconomics, and accounting. Additional finance or banking courses are a plus.
- A strong foundation in financial statement analysis covering income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow.
- Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, financial ratios, and basic modeling.
- Experience using Python or R for data cleaning, visualization, and statistical analysis.
- Ability to work independently with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Curiosity about financial markets, banking, and regulatory developments.
Location & details#
- This role is based in Washington, DC.
- The position is full-time at 37.5 hours per week.
- The schedule is hybrid, with an expectation to work on-site at least two days per week.
- The term runs from June 7, 2027, to August 13, 2027.
- This is a paid internship. Please note that sponsorship is not provided.
