About the role#
This is a paid Software Developer Co-op position based in Ottawa. You will join the RAN Compute and Operability software development team to help build solutions for global 5G networks. This role runs for 8 to 16 months starting January 4, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Work on 3GPP NR and ORAN standards and protocols for advanced 5G features within the management and control plane.
- Build new features and develop the infrastructure and test cases for automated testing.
- Develop and debug software tools for developers, including web-based utilities, log analysis, and software management tools.
- Write and execute unit, integration, and system-level tests.
- Participate in agile development processes such as sprint planning, stand-ups, and reviews.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and support the improvement of development workflows and code quality.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar discipline.
- A GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 or higher.
- Knowledge of C, C++, Java, and Python.
- A good understanding of the Linux or Unix environment.
- Excellent English communication skills.
- Interest in 5G, Cloud RAN, distributed systems, or telecom software is preferred.
- Familiarity with signal processing, communication theory, IP networking, Netconf, or Yang data modeling is an asset.
- Knowledge of cloud-native principles, microservices, Kubernetes, Docker, or CI/CD pipelines is a plus.

- Compensation: $25.50 to $37.00 CAD per hour.
