About the role#
Emerson is hiring a Software Engineering Intern to join our team in Houston. This role focuses on the design and development of embedded firmware for measurement and analytical instrumentation. You will work alongside experienced engineers to refine software that powers precision technologies used in industrial automation.
What you'll do#
- Design and develop embedded firmware.
- Prepare detailed plans to complete your assignments.
- Troubleshoot and debug software using unit tests, emulators, simulators, IDEs, and bench testing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand firmware requirements.
- Perform functional integration testing before handing off work to the test and evaluation team.
- Conduct software design reviews for your assigned projects.
- Provide recommendations for process improvements.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program in engineering, specifically Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week) on-site.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
- Zero years of related experience.
- A GPA of 3.0 or above is preferred.

- Modality: This is an on-site position.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship with an hourly rate of $24 to $28, depending on your year in school and experience.
