About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027. You will work within the Marketing & Communications department alongside the Community Involvement Manager and the Community Involvement Coordinator. This role is a hybrid position based in the Des Moines metro area.
What you'll do#
- Assist with EMC-sponsored community events, including coordinating details with partner organizations and securing event materials.
- Maintain a list of volunteer opportunities for team members and coordinate group volunteer activities.
- Draft communications to promote the Volunteer Time Off benefit.
- Support the annual Community workplace giving campaign by collaborating with the Community committee to plan and execute virtual and in-person activities.
- Develop a comprehensive communications plan.
- Support the broader Marketing & Communications department with project coordination, copywriting, proofreading, and other assigned tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Communications, Public Relations, or related degree program.
- Completion of your junior year.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher.
- Relevant course work.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Attention to detail and sound decision-making skills.
- Proficiency with personal computers and working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience coordinating large projects or events is preferred.
